Greetings!

First and foremost, I hope this letter finds you and your loved ones safe and healthy. These are unprecedented times and Opera Parallèle is working tirelessly to find ways to keep spirits high and music alive.

Last May, we had planned to celebrate OP’s 10th Anniversary by bringing back to life one of our great heroes – Harvey Milk. He was fearless, creative and visionary. Though circumstances did not let us share this opera with you, Harvey’s strength has been with us these past months. He has inspired us to have resilience. “You have to have hope” he would say. And we do.

This year, we are exploring ways to bring relevant and powerful stories to the stage. We will share works that are about belonging and remind us that we all have a place in the world. From Philip Glass’ La Belle et la Bête at the Castro Theater, which explores themes of identity and compassion, to Lembit Beecher’s Sophia’s Forest at Grace Cathedral, which speaks of the impact of immigration on a young girl and her family, we will be reminded that our differences can bring us together. We are committed to sharing these stories in a manner and in venues that prioritize the safety of our audience and artists.

Please help us continue bringing great music and important stories to the Bay Area. Your gift of any size will significantly help this organization through these challenging times. Be part of the story.

Your support matters!

Wishing you warmth and light throughout the season,

Nicole Paiement
