This evening begins with 10 tickets to Opera Parallèle’s production of Jake Heggie’s Dead Man Walking on opening night, Friday, February 20, 2015 at YBCA. After the performance, you and your guests are invited to join Jake Heggie, the conductor, director, and cast on stage for conversation, a tour of the sets, and a private champagne reception.
Rob Zaborny, Executive Chef of the Hayes Street Grill, will create a four-course dinner with wine pairings for 8 people including OP Artistic Director Nicole Paiement and Creative Director Brian Staufenbiel. Enjoy an intimate evening full of behind-the-scenes stories from OP’s artistic leaders in Board member Judy Walsh’s beautiful Sausalito home with breathtaking Bay views.
Escape to Wine Country in Board member Betty Wallerstein’s serene Glen Ellen home, complete with swimming pool, fireplace, and lovely Sonoma Mountain views. Bring along your friends to enjoy this 3 bedroom/3 bath home, just a half-mile walk to the charming town of Glen Ellen with its shops and restaurants. OP Board member Bob Ellis and wife Jane Bernstein host an outdoor lunch featuring local specialties at their Sonoma home overlooking the vineyards. An après-lunch walk through a selection of cabernet, merlot, and zinfandel vines culminates with a visit to the Gundlach Bundschu winery, which produces the wines from these vineyards.
Enjoy the thrill of having Jake Heggie’s opera At the Statue of Venus performed for you and your guests in the privacy of your home. This charming musical scene for soprano and piano will be performed by beloved San Francisco soprano Kristin Clayton, who premiered the role. The libretto by Tony and Emmy award-winning Terrence McNally (Dead Man Walking) is filled with humor, tenderness, and lyricism.
