OurMission

Opera Parallèle merges tradition with innovation to re-invent opera for our modern world. We are committed to the highest artistic standards in our productions, while fostering an inclusive and creative environment that values curiosity and innovation. We are committed to equity, diversity and inclusion in all aspects of our work. We embrace communication, respect, and are accountable for our actions.

The BullhornCommunity Program

The Bullhorn is the next evolution of Opera Parallèle’s community programs, designed to uplift and inspire, to activate and initiate, and to challenge the expectations of what an opera company can be and do. Rooted in civic practice, the Bullhorn programs and events reflect the company’s aspiration to amplify unheard voices, and connect art, audience, and communities, inspired by late San Francisco Supervisor Harvey Milk who used his platform to bring communities together.

Collaboration is in Opera Parallèle’s DNA: the company was named for founder Nicole Paiement’s belief that working “in parallel”, or in partnership, with organizations and artists in our own communities is essential for the survival of opera as a living art form.
