Carmina BuranaOpera Parallele’s Resident Stage Director Brian Staufenbiel will be a featured tenor and serving as Stage Director for the San Francisco Choral Society’s production of Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana.

More than 300 singers, musicians, and dancers will perform Orff’s scenic contata. The San Francisco Choral Society will be joined by the California Chamber Symphony and the Contra Costa Children’s Choir. Staufenbiel will be joined by fellow soloists Marnie Breckenridge, who appeared in Opera Parallele’s award winning production of Orphee, and Eugene Brancoveanu, who has appeared in Opera Parallele’s productions of Young Caesar, Orphee, and Four Saints in Three Acts.

Performances will take place Friday and Saturday August 17th and 18th at 8:00 pm in the Davies Symphony Hall. The evening will also feature a performance of Emma Lou Diemer’s Songs for the Earth, a collage of six poems with a central theme of love for our planet.
